Are you using the most current release of QuoteWerks?
Version 24.0 Build 2
Question:
How do document prefixes work within QuoteWerks?

Solution:
All document numbers for quotes, orders, and invoices will start with a Document Number Prefix. This prefix is particularly useful when you install QuoteWerks at more than one location because each location will have a different Document Number Prefix, which ensures unique document numbers across multiple installations of QuoteWerks.

This prefix will be different depending upon what type of QuoteWerks installation it is.

A. When you install a single-user installation of QuoteWerks or a master network installation of QuoteWerks the prefix will defaults to "AAA". This default "AAA" prefix can be changed to an alternate 3 digit prefix by clicking on the […] button next to the prefix.

B. When you install QuoteWerks, and activate it with a Remote Site License Key (See the Licensing and License Distribution chapter for details on these keys.), then the 3 digit document number prefix specified in the Remote Site License Key will be used as the Document Number Prefix, and cannot be changed.

C. When you install QuoteWerks, and activate it with a Remote User License Key (See the Licensing and License Distribution chapter for details on these keys.), then the 4 digit document number prefix specified in the Remote User License Key will be used as the Document Number Prefix, and cannot be changed . The document prefix will be a 4 digit value consisting of the first letter of the user's first name plus 2 characters generated based on an algorithm plus the first letter of the user's last name.

When the Remote PC License Key is used to activate the remote installation of QuoteWerks, all of the documents created by that installation will have a document number prefix that is determined by the Remote PC License Key. The document number prefix will be a 4 digit value consisting of the first letter of the user's first name plus 2 characters generated based on an algorithm plus the first letter of the user's last name. In the example of a remote user named "John Lewe", the automatically generated document number prefix will be 'JBNL'
