Can QuoteWerks link to a SQL server on the web for products?

Answer
The short answer is yes! Linking to a SQL server that is exposed to the web is similar to linking to a SQL server on your local network.



Prerequisites:
1. The SQL server must be accessible via IP address or domain name via your local Enterprise Manager / Management Studio
2. Your SQL server must be a Microsoft SQL Server
3. You must use QuoteWerks Professional or Corporate Edition. The Standard Edition can not link to external product sources.

How To:
1. Select the Products -> Setup Product Sources menu within QuoteWerks
2. Click on the New button
3. Select "Microsoft SQL Server" from the Select Database Type drop-down list
4. Click on the Next button
5. Enter your SQL Server IP or Domain Name, UserID, Password, and Database that contains the table that you would like to link to.
6. Click on the Test button to confirm that the connection exists and the credentials are valid
7. Click on the Next button
8. Select the Table that you would like to link to
9. Click on the Next button
10. Map the fields in your table to the QuoteWerks fields.
11. Click on the Next button
12. Enter the name of your new product source
13. Click on the Next button
14. Change the column headers as needed
15. Click on the Next button
16. You are done!
